My question is this: after the earrings become "available," does JCPenney really want them back?

I wonder if he was going to deliver them on the morning of Xmas, or wait for some wrapping paper?

This is such a dumb story.  You can't help but make fun of it!

This isn't anything new.  Many years ago we had a guy in AZ who swallowed a very expensive diamond ring.  The corrections officers at the jail were given the chore of keeping track of when the guy went to the bathroom to see if he passed the ring.  Eventually they found the price tag in the shower, but they never did find the ring.  There isn't enough money in the whole world that would make me do that job!

Wow.. that's a pretty desperate move for $16 earrings. I kind of pity the teen.

He probably didnt have any money to buy his girlfriend a christmas gift so he went as far as to crap it out for her.

Isn't it...or is it... equally "FUNNEE!" that none of you seem too concerned that this aimless teen was committing a crime? Or are these little petty thefts acceptable until they escalate into something of more value?

Crime yes! One can only hope that he doesn't contribute to the future gene pool.

I bet the end result is that "it's gotta hurt"!

for $16, let him keep the stupid earrings and pay restitution to the store.  If they were worth more, then yup, monitor him until he poops them out and make him pay for the proper cleaning, sterilization or destruction of the merchandise.  But, if you're gonna swallow jewelry....make it worth your while......$16 bucks?  C'mon kid!

This kid is an idiot.  I wouldn't swallow anything worth less than a grand.  I hope the clasps tear his anus to shreds when they come out.  Or better yet, maybe he'll have to have surgery to take them out.
